Ready 4 Life: MindShift!

How can we make decisions about our future when we have access to an endless amount of information, but do not always know what to trust? How can we cope with pressure, uncertainty and worries about the future? And how can we choose a school, a career or a new direction in life without feeling that one wrong decision will ruin everything?

The Ready 4 Life: MindShift! project was created in response to the challenges young people face during the transition to adulthood. It connects three closely related areas:

🧠 critical thinking and media literacy
💚 mental health and well-being
🎯 life and career decision-making

The project is designed for young people aged approximately 16 to 30, as well as youth workers, teachers, mentors, school psychologists and others who support young people.

Why Ready 4 Life: MindShift!?

Growing up and entering adulthood have always involved decision-making and uncertainty. Today, however, young people also face information overload, social media pressure, misinformation, the rapid development of artificial intelligence, increasing expectations to succeed and an uncertain labour market.

They often have access to a large amount of content, but only a limited number of clear and trustworthy resources that help them evaluate information and turn it into practical decisions.

Ready 4 Life: MindShift! therefore does not treat critical thinking, mental well-being and career planning as separate topics. When making decisions about our future, we need to recognize reliable information, understand our own needs and emotions, and learn how to work with uncertainty.

What topics do we address?

1) Critical thinking in the digital world

Young people receive much of their information through social media, videos, influencers and online communities. The project therefore focuses on how to:

  • distinguish between facts, opinions and manipulation,

  • verify sources and recognize misinformation,

  • understand the influence of social media and algorithms,

  • think critically about content created by artificial intelligence,

  • make informed decisions instead of automatically accepting the opinions of others.

The goal is not to tell young people what they should think. We want to help them develop the ability to pause, ask useful questions and form their own opinions.

2) Mental health and well-being

Uncertainty, pressure to succeed, constant comparison with others and fear of making the wrong decision can significantly affect young people’s well-being.

Ready 4 Life: MindShift! offers clear resources and tools that support:

  • self-awareness and self-reflection,

  • coping with stress and tension,

  • building resilience,

  • developing a healthier relationship with personal expectations,

  • navigating difficult periods of life,

  • recognizing when it is time to seek help.

The materials do not replace psychological or psychiatric care. However, they can offer a safe first step towards understanding oneself and one’s own needs more clearly.

3) Life and career decision-making

Not every young person knows exactly what they want to do. And that is completely okay.

The project focuses on decisions related to education, employment and the transition to adulthood. It helps young people explore questions such as:

  • What is important to me?

  • What are my strengths?

  • What options are available to me?

  • What do I need to find out before making a decision?

  • How might artificial intelligence affect the labour market and my plans?

  • How can I choose my next step without needing to plan my entire life?

The aim is not to find one “correct” career. It is more important to learn how to make decisions, adapt to change and gradually create one’s own path.

Who are the materials for?

For young people

Young people can use the materials independently. They can help them understand a specific topic, reflect on their own situation or try a simple self-reflection activity.

Special attention is given to young people from rural areas and communities where access to trustworthy and understandable resources is limited.

For youth workers and educators

Youth workers, teachers, mentors and career counsellors often discuss topics such as mental health, misinformation or the future with young people, but they may not always have ready-to-use methods and up-to-date resources.

The project therefore also creates materials that can be used in workshops, classrooms, mentoring, coaching conversations and non-formal education activities.

What are we creating in the project?

Ready 4 Life: MindShift! is gradually developing freely available educational resources in Slovak, Estonian and English.

The project outputs will include:

  • a research publication on existing approaches, tools and young people’s needs,

  • podcasts with experts and practitioners,

  • short educational videos,

  • infographics, worksheets and practical tools,

  • articles focused on individual topics,

  • lesson and session plans for workshops and educational activities,

  • presentations for youth workers and educators,

  • webinars and educational events.

The project plans to create one research publication, nine podcasts, 27 short videos, 27 infographics and tools, nine articles and three lesson plans.

By young people, for young people

The materials are based on the principle “by young people, for young people.” This means that the resources should not only be accurate and evidence-based. They must also be understandable, practical and useful in real life.

Young people, as well as professionals who work with them, are involved in research, interviews, feedback and content creation. The final resources combine research findings, non-formal education, coaching approaches and practical experience.

International cooperation

Ready 4 Life: MindShift! is an Erasmus+ project bringing together three organisations:

  • Eluks Valmis from Estonia – bringing experience in life skills, preparation for adulthood and career planning,

  • coobra – cooperativa braccianti from Austria – contributing expertise in critical thinking, media literacy and non-formal education,

  • EduEra from Slovakia – contributing experience in mental health, coaching, self-development and youth work.

By connecting these areas of expertise, the partnership creates resources that can be used locally while also responding to challenges shared by young people across Europe.

Materials for download

This page will gradually bring together all available outputs of the Ready 4 Life: MindShift! project.

You can download the materials free of charge and use them:

  • for independent learning and self-reflection,

  • during workshops and training activities,

  • in schools and educational settings,

  • in youth work,

  • in mentoring, coaching or career guidance.

Choose the topic or resource you currently need, download it and use it in your practice or in your own decision-making.
