Discover the many colours of nonformal education!

How can non-formal education (NFE) empower young people, connect communities, and inspire innovation in youth work? These were the guiding questions behind our international study visit COLORS OF NON-FORMAL EDUCATION (CoNFE). Now, we are proud to share the results in the form of a new manual: “Sharing Best Practices from the Colours of Non-Formal Education.”

Why this manual?

During CoNFE, youth workers and NGO representatives from across Europe came together in Slovakia to exchange experiences, reflect on challenges, and co-create new approaches. Each organisation brought its unique “colour” – its stories, tools, and methods. Together, we painted a diverse picture of how non-formal education can strengthen resilience, promote solidarity, and respond to today’s social challenges.

The manual captures these best practices, making them available to anyone who wants to bring fresh ideas into their youth work. It is not just a collection of methods, but also a source of inspiration and a practical toolkit for NGOs, educators, and community leaders.

What will you find inside?

  • Real-life practices from organisations across Europe – what works, why it works, and how it can be adapted.

  • Creative methods such as storytelling, scenario-building, and the Inner Compass Walk, which emerged directly from our study visit.

  • Reflections and lessons learned, showing both successes and challenges, because growth often comes from trial and error.

  • Inspiration for collaboration, encouraging readers to look beyond borders and build partnerships that make youth work stronger.

Why should you read it?

This manual is for anyone who believes that youth work can change lives. Whether you are a trainer, a youth worker, an NGO leader, or simply curious about non-formal education, you will find concrete tools and stories that you can use immediately in your own practice.

By sharing what we have learned, we hope to support the wider youth work community, spark new collaborations, and contribute to building more resilient and inclusive communities across Europe.
