CATCH – Creating Youth Work Training and Coaching Horizons

CATCH is an international Erasmus+ project coordinated by EduEra (Slovakia) in cooperation with ORIEL APS (Italy), coobra – cooperativa braccianti (Austria), PRAXIS (Greece), ZEMEKOULE ZS (Czech Republic) and rescogita OÜ (Estonia).

The project was funded by the European Union with the support of NIVAM – the Slovak Agency for Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.

CATCH focused on bringing coaching into youth work. Together, we explored how coaching principles, powerful questions, reflection and practical tools can support young people in identifying their own goals, motivation, strengths and next steps in life, education or career.

During the project, participants went through an international learning process that included training courses, webinars, local coaching practice, supervision and peer support. They then applied what they learned in their own communities and organisations, working with young people with different life experiences, barriers and needs.

The project produced practical outcomes for youth workers, trainers, facilitators, educators, coaches, mentors and other professionals who want to include a coaching approach in their work with young people.

On the CATCH website, you can find the following outcomes:

• Coaching Handbook
A beginner-friendly guide to coaching tools in youth work and career support. It shows how coaching can support career guidance, personal development, goal setting and decision-making with young people.

• Eco-Coaching Manual
An introduction to eco-coaching, grounded in eco-psychology and created for youth workers. It focuses on outdoor coaching, connection with nature, community, resilience, belonging and the use of natural environments in coaching processes.

• Competence Model
A framework defining youth coaching competence, including a self-assessment component. It describes key areas, criteria and indicators important for the development of youth coaching in youth work.

• 20 Innovated Coaching Tools
A practical collection of coaching tools created during the CATCH webinar process and adapted for online environments and group coaching.

• Webinar Materials
Materials from CATCH online learning activities focused on the psychological background of coaching, coaching in digital and virtual settings, and the development of new coaching tools and approaches.

• Documentary
A documentary presenting the CATCH journey, international learning activities, local coaching practice, participants’ stories and the main results of the project.

CATCH shows that coaching does not have to be only an individual service for selected groups of people. It can also be a sensitive, accessible and practical way to support self-reflection, responsibility, active decision-making, inclusion and personal development in youth work.
